This workshop is tailored to equip educators with the essential tools and strategies to utilize the How Does Learning Happen (HDLH) framework in engaging Black families within childcare programs.

 

Participants will explore effective communication strategies and explore the concept of allyship to foster strong partnerships between educators and Black families. Through practical activities, participants will gain valuable insights and resources to create inclusive, supportive, and culturally sensitive environments that honour the diverse experiences and backgrounds of Black families.

Session Objective

  • Review How Does Learning Happen (HDLH) framework and its relevance to engaging Black families within childcare programs.
  • Develop effective communication skills to establish trust, build rapport, and foster meaningful partnerships with Black families.
  • Develop allyship skills by advocating for the needs and interests of Black families in educational settings.
