Job Title: Workshop Facilitator
I\'m Edson Joachim, an enthusiastic educator and advocate dedicated to empowering Black youth. With roots in Haiti and upbringing in Ottawa, I\'ve embarked on a multifaceted journey aimed at nurturing young minds and fostering connections within the community.
My passion for education led me to a fulfilling career as a primary school teacher, a role I continue to embrace with zeal. From Kindergarten to Grade 8, I\'ve had the privilege of guiding students through their educational journey, instilling in them a love for learning and a sense of pride in their identity.
In addition to my teaching role, I\'ve served as the General Program Manager and board member at Black in Nature Not-for-profit organization from 2022 until February 2024, spearheading initiatives aimed at bridging the gap between Black youth and the natural world. Through innovative programming and inclusive practices, we\'ve created opportunities for children to explore and thrive in outdoor environments, fostering a deep connection to nature and community. Together with my dedicated colleagues, we\'ve worked towards a future where Black youth have equitable access to educational and environmental opportunities.
As a fluently bilingual Ontario Certified Elementary School Teacher, I understand the importance of linguistic diversity and inclusivity in education. Through my work, I aim to create welcoming spaces where every child feels valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
