THIS IS A TWO PART SERIES.  PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND BOTH SESSIONS IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE SERIES. ONCE YOU HAVE REGISTERED FOR PART 1, YOU WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY REGISTERED FOR PART 2.

 

The Black Experience Training Series - Session 1

 

Reminder: in this series, Session 1 is open to all participants, Session 2A is specific for non-Black identifying allies, and Session 2B is for Black-identifying folks only. Please register accordingly. 

 

Join us for an enriching virtual session as we explore the vibrant Black experience in Canada through a lens of joy and resilience. 

 

Throughout the session, participants will examine the intricate intersectional identity of Black Canadians, gaining a deeper understanding of the complexities and nuances that shape their lives, challenges, and resilience.

 

We will explore the unique histories and cultural legacies of Black Canadians, highlighting their remarkable resilience and achievements despite systemic barriers. 

 

Finally, participants will understand the significance of Black Joy and its relevance when engaging with young learners and families.

Session 1 - Virtual - September 17, 2024

Session 2B (Black identifying folks only) - Virtual - October 1, 2024

 

Session Objective

  • Gain insight into the intersectionality identity of Black Canadians by examining various factors that contribute to their experiences, challenges, and resilience. (Note: Factors can include: ethnicity, migration stories, gender, socio-economic status, political views, religion, etc)
  • Recognize the unique histories and cultural legacies of Black Canadians and highlight their resilience and achievements
  • Explain the importance of acknowledging and celebrating Black Joy in educational settings
