Description

Teacher Talk™ Training A: Encouraging Language Development in Early Childhood Settings

This event will take place over 3 days:

Dates: May 6, 7 and 8, 2020
Time: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM

This popular training from The Hanen Centre addresses how to foster language development through daily interaction with young children. For the first time, it is now being offered online through ZOOM. Just like the in-person training, this series of three 2½ hour sessions will offer opportunities for discussion, interaction and practice. Participants receive a comprehensive workbook for planning how to apply their new knowledge and language facilitating strategies to their interactions with children in their centres.

NOTE: This training is a pre-requisite to Teacher Talk™ B: Let Language Lead the Way to Literacy and Teacher Talk™ C: Fostering Peer Interaction in Early Childhood Setting. However, these sessions are not being offered online at this time.

In order to participate in the ZOOM Online Meeting platform, participants will need:

    • A desktop computer, laptop or tablet
    • An internet connection – wireless (3G or 4G/LTE) or broadband wired (preferred, if possible, to avoid internet delays)
    • Speakers and a microphone – built-in or USB plug-in or wireless Bluetooth
    • A webcam

Session Objective

  • Understand the important role educators play in facilitating language development during daily interactions.
  • Learn and implement strategies that support interaction and language development in infants, toddlers and preschoolers

Location: Online

Standards of practice

  • Caring and Responsive Relationships
  • Professionalism and Leadership
