Description

In partnership with the Knowledge Institute for Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH), Infant and Early Mental Health Promotion invites practitioners in the region to a 1-day symposium focusing on Infant and Early Mental Health.

Dr. Chaya Kulkarni (BAA, M. Ed, Ed.D), Director of Infant and Early Mental Health Promotion, will lead with a presentation on the Science of Infant and Early Mental Health and Best Practices. Dr. Kulkarni will then moderate a panel discussion with local partners that will showcase how local agencies, in particular child and youth mental health agencies and service providers, are embedding the science of infant and early mental health into their work. Participants will then be put into multi-sector small groups to identify ways they can strengthen their infant and mental health services as individual agencies and as community-based partners. A mental health agency will be part of every table and support the facilitation of this activity and discussions. Finally, a competency survey and the results of breakout sessions will be used to provide each community with a summary of the day. Participants will also be asked to complete an evaluation, and this will be part of the summary.

This event is free to attend; however, as this is an in-person event, we have a maximum capacity of 88 participants for our Toronto Symposium.

Session Objective

Participants will complete a competency survey at the start of each symposium day. The survey is based on the Competency Framework developed by IEMHP. Later in the day, the results will be shared providing individual and group information about the knowledge and skill strengths of participant strengths and areas of opportunity for continued growth in both knowledge and skill.

This event is free to attend; however, as this is an in-person event, we have a maximum capacity of 88 participants for our Toronto Symposium.
