Every year, the Toronto Police Service responds to over 20,000 calls for service in relation to domestic situations. The majority of domestic situations involve children living in the home. Research has proven that children who are exposed to domestic violence suffer severe psychological effects which can stay with them for a lifetime. Also, children who do not receive proper treatment/counseling can also repeat the cycle of abuse.

This project is to hold a one-day Symposium to raise awareness and to provide training to both the professionals and the public by addressing the psychological effects that Children suffer from being exposed to Domestic Violence and what resources/tools are available to address their needs. By addressing the needs of the children, the hidden victims and survivors of domestic violence, this project will help to empower their resilience in the aftermath of victimization.
